About NCCCMA

The North Carolina City and County Management Association (NCCCMA) was created in 1964 as the professional development association for city and county managers and assistant managers for counties and municipalities throughout the State of North Carolina. The Association’s primary goals are four-fold:

  • contribute to the continuing improvement of city and county government in North Carolina;
  • maintain and develop the professional competence and personal development of its members through discussion and exchange of information, ideas, and experience;
  • maintain and develop relations with organizations devoted to the improvement of local government; and,
  • encourage and support professional general management forms of government in North Carolina.

NCCCMA is a state affiliate of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA). Our members subscribe to a high standard of professionalism, including conformance with the ICMA Code of Ethics.

Value Proposition

NCCCMA’s purpose is to promote ethical, professional public management while building vibrant and prosperous North Carolina communities.

Whom We Serve and Why

NCCCMA exists to serve North Carolina’s city and county management professionals at every stage of their careers, so they can continue the vital work of serving and improving their communities. We help management professionals learn, respond to an ever-changing environment, and forge an extensive professional network across North Carolina.

Governance

NCCCMA is governed through a Constitution and By-Laws. Read the NCCCMA Constitution and By-Laws (pdf) to learn more about organizational governance.

In addition, the Association is led by an Executive Committee consisting of local government leaders from across the state. See the current Executive Committee (pdf) list.
